Family Background
Umesh Kumar’s ancestral roots trace back to the village of Kadaballi in Nagamangala taluk of Mandya district and the nearby village of Hyadalu in Nelamangala. This family has given several artistic achievers to society. Among them are Mrudanga Ratnakara Vidwan H. Puttachar, internationally renowned music scholar and Khanjira Chakravarti, Sri H.P. Ramachar, Rajyotsava Awardee sculptor Sri K.H. Rajshekar Acharya, Pitilu Vidwan Sri K.H. Bhaskaracharya and Rajyotsava Award recipient Smt. K.B. Haimavathamma. Umesh Kumar blossomed in a family that has nurtured many such eminent talents. He takes pride in continuing his ancestors’ rich legacy.
Umesh Kumar is the son of a former soldier who served the nation. His father, Shri Mohan T.R., was a former army man and participated in the Indian Army’s ‘Operation Blue Star’ at the Golden Temple in Amritsar. The disciplined and strict life led by his father had a significant influence on Umesh Kumar from a young age. Under his father’s guidance, Umesh Kumar adopted a life of discipline. The values of patriotism, service to the nation and sacrifice naturally grew within Umesh Kumar as well.
