Umesh Kumar, who works with the motto “Paropakarartham Idam Shareeram” (This body is meant for the service of others), views social service as his very breath. For the past fifteen years, he has been involved in numerous social service activities, reaching out to thousands of beneficiaries. Umesh is known for his generous nature, always ready to help anyone in need.
“Kumar Raksha” is Dr. Umesh Kumar’s ambitious public welfare program. It provides continuous free health check-ups, distribution of medicines, and free treatment for the underprivileged. A special ambulance has been designed for this purpose, equipped with doctors and state-of-the-art medical facilities. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the floods in North Karnataka, and the Kodagu floods, the Kumar Raksha program undertook relief operations, earning widespread admiration.
Umesh Kumar has been continuously organizing various social service initiatives without any distinction of caste, religion or sect. These include free heart disease check-up camps, diabetes screening camps, eye donation camps, blood donation camps, food distribution programs, welfare activities for orphaned children and scholarships for students.
As a CSR activity, Umesh Kumar has also undertaken numerous socially responsible initiatives. Some of his notable contributions include:
  • The introduction of the Elevator Rescue Vehicle for emergency services in case of lift accidents, a first in the country.
  • Providing rescue operation training to more than 5,000 firefighters across Karnataka, marking the first such state-wide training initiative.
  • Umesh Kumar’s commitment to workers’ welfare is evident in his innovative program “Karmik Bandhu”, aimed at protecting the interests of workers. This program provides support in the event of accidents, offering benefits like insurance, health cards, scholarships for children’s education, essential medical assistance and job creation.
These initiatives reflect Umesh Kumar’s dedication to both social welfare and the betterment of the community at large.

Cultural Field by Dr. Umesh Kumar

Hailing from a family of artists, Umesh Kumar has a deep-rooted passion for the arts. Being an excellent patron of the arts, he organized a cultural event called “Pancha Kala Vaibhava” in memory of his ancestors. In this event, 116 achievers who had excelled in music, literature, dance, painting, and sculpture were honoured and brought together on a single stage. This event became an unforgettable moment in the cultural history of the state.
Umesh Kumar has consistently given immense importance to art, culture and folk traditions in the events he organizes, including the Shri Virat Vishwakarma Mahotsav. He has also encouraged artistic talents by organizing dance and music competitions from time to time. In addition, he has provided support and encouragement to emerging artists in various forms.
The credit for creating the first-ever devotional songs of Sri Dakshina Murthy’s worship in Kannada goes to Umesh Kumar. He has also produced few devotional songs praising Sri Vishwakarma Bhagavan. Umesh has also provided complete encouragement and cooperation in the preparation of Shlokas praising Bala Rama of Ayodhya and songs dedicated to Rajarajeshwari Devi. Furthermore, he has been instrumental in the installation of Shri Dakshina Murthy at the Lakshmi Venkateshwara temple in Srinivasa Nagar, receiving divine blessings for the same.
Umesh Kumar, who believes in the idea of “unity and peace” has fostered strong relationships and connections with spiritual institutions of all communities, including various mutts, pontiffs and temples. He has been honoured by several swamijees for his efforts.
Being a sports enthusiast himself, Umesh Kumar is also a patron of numerous sports. To promote the sports interest of journalists and media persons, he has been organizing the Creative Media Cup for several years.
